Creating new AI powered experiences within the Edge browser.

Internship 2025

Overview

Over the course of 12 weeks, I contributed to developing new experiences for MSN within the Edge browser on Windows, focusing on designing and refining core features to bring to the platform. My work involved exploring innovative directions and frameworks for a core feature, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on feasibility and vision, and creating prototypes that tested the potential impact of these features on the overall MSN experience.

12 Weeks at Microsoft AI

During this internship, I was placed on the MSN team within Microsoft AI, where our mission was to reimagine the MSN experience in the Edge browser and explore how AI and Copilot could deliver a more personalized and engaging experience for users.

I worked on two major projects, one exploring a potential design direction for a new core AI feature within MSN, and another focused on a less experimental feature that is scheduled to ship to the over 290 million monthly MSN users in the near future.

Throughout these projects, I collaborated closely with product managers, engineers, and designers, contributing to the design of user experiences, frameworks, and roadmaps that will guide future development of MSN’s AI capabilities. I also partnered with full-time employees to conduct research, refine designs, and deliver a fully developed feature ready for engineering handoff.

Due to NDA restrictions, I am unable to share detailed processes or final deliverables at this time. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more about my experience at Microsoft and the work I contributed to.

Reflections

My first big internship.

Designing at scale can be challenging.

Designing at scale can be challenging.

Designing for scale.

One of the most important things I took from my internship was understanding what it truly means to design for scale. Working on a platform that reaches hundreds of millions of users worldwide required me to think beyond aesthetics or usability in isolation. Every design decision had to account for performance, accessibility, cultural differences, and long-term sustainability across devices and markets.

Designing for AI moves quick.

Coming into this internship, I had heard about how quickly teams were moving to design and build AI-centered products, but I didn’t fully understand just how quick until I experienced it firsthand. The AI landscape shifts quickly, changing business priorities, shortened timelines, and complex design challenges all required me to flexible and learn quick.

Always keep learning.

One of my main goals for this internship was to be a sponge for knowledge. I never stopped asking questions or exploring new approaches, even when it meant venturing outside my comfort zone. I embraced failure as an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve by observing and collaborating with the incredibly talented people around me.
