For our SCADpro course we were tasked with designing and delivering a prototype digital product for the Mayo Clinic. We worked hand in hand with the Humanities in Medicine team at the Jacksonville campus to develop a digital art experience for the Mayo Clinic.

Content Lead & UX Designer
For this project I worked directly with the Humanities in Medicine team at Jacksonville with my team at SCAD. During our project I helped at each stage of the project. This includes leading a focus group and user testing session, facilitate communication between separate teams, curate content that fit for each team, make design decisions for our product, ideate features for our product, and develop IA/wireframes and the final hi-fi prototype that was showcased.
While I was considered the content lead for the project, I had many different responsibilities and did many different forms of work throughout the timeline of the project.
Due to NDA restrictions I cannot share our process or final product that was presented to Mayo Clinic, so please contact me if interested in hearing about my time working with the Mayo Clinic.

Growing Pains
Communication and Communication
Communication and Communication
In the beginning of the project all the way up towards the latter end of the project we struggled with communication. People were getting annoyed and frustrated because they felt like they didn't know why they were doing certain things. Towards the end, we fixed this and the end of the project was a lot smoother.

Learn, and Push Yourself
Learn, and Push Yourself
In an environment with many different people with many different specialties, try your best to learn from them. Ask questions, get advice, have them look at your work and critique you. Anything that makes you a better designer, do.

No Ego, No Matter What
No Ego, No Matter What
In a big professional project like this, it can be hard to leave your ego at the door. You want your ideas to be implemented, but sometimes they just aren't. Or you get some one who critiques your work, when you thought it was good enough. The best way to deal with these things is to look at it without your ego, and to be open and listen.

Designing Real World Applications
Is Difficult
In class or other settings it's fairly straightforward. You come at it with the usual by the book methods, interview people on campus or that you know, and come out with a product at the end of it. With a real world product, you have to frequently think outside of the box, understand what the client needs, and improve on your skillsets during the project.
